The Nation's Weather for Monday, January 22, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
An active pattern will continue in the West today, as yet
another round of moisture pushes onshore. This will produce
steady rain up and down the West coast with numerous showers
reaching farther inland. In the mountains, colder air will
lead to snow for parts of the Sierras as well as within the
high terrain of the Four Corners region. A significant storm
will cross from the southern Plains into the Midwest,
bringing rain and thunder from South Texas into southern
Arkansas, with morning ice expected from Oklahoma through
southern Illinois before transitioning over to plain rain in
the afternoon. Freezing rain will lead to icy conditions
from central Illinois through southern Michigan, while snow
picks up across central Michigan. High pressure centered
offshore will mean dry conditions for the East.
