More than $950,000 has been raised for the recovery of one of the three college students of Palestinian descent who was shot in Vermont and is currently paralyzed from the chest down. A fundraising page set up by his family on Saturday says a bullet is lodged in Hisham Awartani's spine. He and two childhood friends who all attend colleges in the U.S. were visiting Awartani’s relatives in Burlington. His family says they were walking to his grandmother's home when all three were shot in an unprovoked attack. The suspected gunman was arrested at his Burlington apartment. He's pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder.
