The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, September 27, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As Ophelia lingers off the mid-Atlantic coast and an area of
high pressure hovers over Quebec, dry air will sag to the
south over New England and the central Appalachians today.
However, low clouds, areas of rain and drizzle are likely to
linger along the mid-Atlantic and southern Atlantic coasts
with heavier downpours over Florida and the Gulf Coast.
Stiff winds between both systems will create rough surf,
beach erosion and coastal flooding along the mid-Atlantic
and southern Atlantic coasts. A tropical disturbance will be
watched for development over the southeastern Gulf later
this week. As a storm moves along over the Central states,
showers and locally severe thunderstorms will affect part of
the Midwest. Much of the Plains and Southwest will be dry as
a storm sends more rain into the Northwest.
