The Nation's Weather for Sunday, August 20, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As Hilary pushes northward tomorrow, widespread flooding is
expected to spread across a significant portion of Southern
California, the Sierra Nevada and southern Nevada as hours
of tropical downpours occur. Precipitation associated with
Hilary will even extend as far north as Montana through the
day. East of that zone, showers will spread into the Dakotas
as a disturbance crosses through southern Canada. The rest
of the Plains, the South and the Midwest can expect a dry
day as exceptional heat pushes eastward toward the Great
Lakes region. Most of the Southeast will also be hot and
dry, but a tropical wave shifting westward into the Gulf of
Mexico will provide the risk for thunderstorms across much
of Florida. Otherwise, the majority of the East will also
remain dry.
