Red flags saw the session interrupted with three minutes remaining with two separate incidents at more or less the same moment, John Farano putting the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca hard into the tyre barrier backwards in the first element of the Bus Stop, Fred Poordad into the tyres on the outside of T6 taking off the left side fender of the #55 Proton Oreca.
The #55 would get back to the pit lane after assistance, Farano climbing out of his damaged car and looking a little shaken but otherwise OK, walking unaided to the Medical car.
By then the session was led by Ben Keating in the #52 PR1 Mathisen car, a 1:50.541 over 1.2 seconds clear of his nearest rival after finally finding a clear lap.
Second in the order was Francois Heriau in the #35 TDS Racing car ahead of the sister #11 Oreca of Steven Thomas who had led the session early on.
Francois Perrodo posted a time good enough for fourth in his #88 AF Corse car.
