A BROTHER and sister duo has shared how they can be exactly the same age – without being twins.
And while many people were initially baffled by the situation, it all made a lot more sense when they heard the full story.
A woman took to Facebook group Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas to tell the members more about her and her brother.
She uploaded a smiling shot of the two standing side by side, with the male towering over the female.
Alongside the snap, she wrote: “This is random but does anyone else have a sibling that they’re not twins with but they’re the same age for a length of time?
“Here’s me and my ‘little’ brother.
“He’s 31 in April and we’re both 31 until I turn 32 in July.”
That means that the pair will be exactly the same age for around three months, before she marks her next milestone.
When people first read the post, they didn’t know what to expect, but they soon got the right end of the stick.
As people reacted, one person described them as “Irish twins”, a saying that dates back to the 19th century about two children born to the same mother in the space of twelve months.
But it seems the woman and her brother are not alone, as other social media users flocked to the comments.
One wrote: “My brother and I are the same age for seven weeks of the year.
“We were born in the same year, one in January and one in December.”
A second revealed they were the same, as they said: “Me and my bro the same year too. I was Feb, he was Dec.”
While a third commented: “Twins for a day with my younger sister.”
Other people also joined the conversation as they tagged friends and family members who were also in the same position.
While many parents were eager to tell the story of their children and their close ages.
One mum wrote: “My oldest boys are the same age for 5 weeks.
“Drives the oldest mad! His brother loves it.”
While another added: “2 of mine are exactly 11 months apart. They were even in the same school year.”
