Morning commute traffic from Marin County to San Francisco was backed up after a rock slide closed southbound Highway 101 near Rodeo Drive in Sausalito early Monday.
The slide was reported to the California Highway Patrol just before 4:30 a.m. after several cars hit the rocks. At least one sustained “major damage,” according to the CHP traffic incident website. All lanes were closed during the cleanup, which was completed before 7:10 a.m. All lanes were reopened, but the traffic backup lingered.
Traffic is being diverted to Bridgeway in Sausalito. At 6:30 a.m., traffic was backed up on Highway 101 over the Richardson Bay overpass and through Mill Valley.
