Schuylerville looks to move to 5-0 Friday when it plays at Rensselaer/Loudonville Christian.
2 The first two weeks of Class AA play have produced a pair dramatic conclusions on the final play of the game. Two weeks ago, CBA edged Shaker 35-34 in overtime after stopping a two-point conversion attempt. Last week, Saratoga Springs rallied and scored on a 28-yard touchdown pass as time expired to beat Guilderland 18-14. Could Shenendehowa (3-0 overall, 2-0 Class AA) at Shaker (2-2, 1-1) Friday offer up a similar thrilling finish? Shaker beat Shen during the regular season a year ago, but the Plainsmen prevailed 17-14 in the Class AA semifinals.
3 The three teams that tied for the 2021 Class A Capital Division title – Amsterdam, Averill Park and La Salle – all prevailed in the first week of divisional play last week. They each arrived at victory in different ways: La Salle needed overtime to edge Troy 28-27 to maintain possession of the Collar City Cup, Averill Park used a defensive stand to preserve a 13-7 decision over Columbia and Amsterdam utilized potent offensive production from quarterback Jhai Vellon and receiver Ceasar Thompson to defeat Mohonasen 35-12.
