I’m furious after Hermes driver left my £160 package wedged under a dirty BIN on the street and told me it was delivered
A WOMAN was furious when her £160 Hermes parcel was stuffed beneath a stinking bin.
Karen Hindhaugh’s brand new designer trainers were left out in full view of her neighbours.
Karen branded the move by the parcel giants “shambolic”.
Speaking to ChronicleLive, Karen – who is the managing director for a PR firm – explained how she received a notification saying her parcel had been delivered.
But when she returned to her home in Tynemouth, North Tyneside, she realised the package had been left stuffed under a neighbour’s dirty wheelie bin.
She said she feared that had she not found it, a passer-by could have grabbed the parcel – clearly wrapped in posh Moda from Pelle packaging – assuming it had been discarded.
As the delivery slot was for between 12 and 2pm on a Sunday, Karen had assumed the parcel would be left with a neighbour – not lying in the dirt.
She said: “I’m horrified that Hermes could have left my package beneath a wheelie bin on a public road.
“Anyone who saw the parcel being delivered could easily have taken it. It’s shambolic.”
Karen explained how the bins on her street are left in a “dirty and muddy recess” that can be accessed by anyone passing by.

She added: “I’d missed an Amazon package about 30 minutes before the Hermes delivery was made that was successfully left with a neighbour.
“If I hadn’t seen the parcel under the bin, I might never have got it. The bins are emptied every Wednesday and the chances are it would either have gone out with the rubbish.
“If a passer-by had seen it, they would probably have thought, given where it was left, that it had been discarded and they may well have just taken it.”
A spokesperson for Hermes told ChronicleLive: “We successfully deliver over 700 million parcels a year, but occasionally things do go wrong.
“We have been in touch with the customer to apologise and have provided a gesture of goodwill.”
