The government will transport Sinovac vaccines to Cebu and Davao this week for the inoculation of medical frontliners, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Monday.
He gave assurances that the distribution of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines from Sinovac Biotech will be “equitable.”
The vaccination program kicked off on Monday, with medical frontliners in referral hospitals getting the first jabs.
“Itatransport na po yung vaccine this coming March 3 and 4 doon sa Cebu. This coming March 5 and 6 itatransport naman nila sa Davao (The vaccines will be transported on March 3 and 4 in Cebu. On March 5 and 6, the vaccines will be transported to Davao),” Galvez said in a press briefing at the Philippine General Hospital.
Medical frontliners at the Vicente Sotto Medical Center in Cebu City and the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City will be among those who will be vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine.
“Uunahin po doon ang Vicente Sotto, mahigit na isang libo po yung tauhan niya at tsaka po yung ating Southern Philippines Medical Center (We will prioritize Vicente Sotto, which has more than a thousand personnel, and the Southern Philippines Medical Center).”
He did not disclose the volume of vaccines allocated for the two provinces and hospitals.
Galvez said the government will distribute vaccines next in Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon) and Baguio City.
The government plans to vaccinate more than one million health workers in March, ahead of the vaccination of other priority groups such as senior citizens and economic frontliners.
