The Dark Lord himself, Diablo, can be defeated in Diablo 3's annual event the Darkening of Tristram. Here's how to hunt the beast down.
The Darkening of Tristram event in Diablo 3 allows players to experience the events of the first game, including killing the Dark Lord himself, Diablo. There are four main bosses within this dungeon in total including the Butcher, Skeleton King, Arch-Bishop Lazarus, and Diablo. Diablo being the final boss of the dungeon.
This guide will get the player to the Dark Lord and give them tips and tricks on how to defeat the beast once they arrive in his lair. However, this does not cover the perfect build for defeating him, simple suggestions for what types of attacks the player should invest in. Along with what to look out for when entering these areas and dealing with these enemies.
Being the final boss within the dungeon, the Dark Lord is the furthest down into it. Once the players have surpassed the past three main bosses they should be able to make their way down to the 16th level of the Labyrinth. This level is full of large and winding rooms that are filled up to the brim with Blood Knights. These enemies will not respawn, so players should go ahead and take them out before visiting the Dark Lord.
Between two of the larger rooms will be a thin corridor. As soon as the player enters this corridor, the Dark Lord will emerge from the far door to the left. He'll initially burst through with a dash, sending most players either back through the door from which they came or through the opposite door into another sea of Blood Knights.
As long as the player can use a decent AOE attack to keep the Blood Knights from attacking them, they should make quick work of the horde. If not, bottleneck the player and the Dark Lord in the thin hallway between the rooms to keep them from entering and dealing more damage on top of what the Dark Lord is doing. However, this puts the player in harm's way to receive some of the Dark Lord's famous fire breath.
It is better to keep the player in an open space if possible when fighting this creature. However, bottlenecking can be done in a pinch if the player is being overwhelmed. Staying close to him will keep him from doing his dash attack but will make the player much more likely to be hit by his fire breath and claws. Otherwise, stay away from him, dodging his dash attacks and dealing more ranged damage.
Diablo 3 can be played on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
