SANTA PAULA, Calif. (AP) — The pilot killed in the crash of a twin-engine plane in oil fields north of Los Angeles has been identified.
The Ventura County Star (http://bit.ly/1DlAg7V ) says 82-year-old James Breeding of Ojai was killed when his Cessna 337 crashed four miles southeast of the Santa Paula Airport.
His wife, Jan Breeding, tells KCBS-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1IRf3oN ) that her husband was a lifelong pilot who'd gone out for a quick flight Saturday morning.
The wreckage was discovered Saturday afternoon by a passerby who spotted it on the side of a hill.
Breeding was the only person aboard.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
