THE parents of a 13-year-old boy who died in his family’s arms after a hit-and-run have paid tribute to him.
Jack Worwood was on his way to play football with some pals when he was struck by a Jaguar in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester.

“I’m so, so, so, so sorry, love you always and forever Jack, fly with the angels. You will forever be a part of me and I will never ever forget you.”
His mum, Catherine Gregory, told how her son had “passed away in our arms” after the car mounted the kerb and hit him on Tuesday afternoon.
He had left home 15 minutes before the tragedy, with cops saying the driver and passenger of the Jaguar failing to stop.
Jack was rushed to hospital before he died of his injuries – with his stepmum, Tracy Marie Robinson posting a shocking picture of him on life support before he died.
Ms Gregory told Wigan Today: “No-one should have to go through what we have in the last 24 hours.
“Our beautiful son Jack passed away in our arms at 14.53. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement.”
Ms Robinson added: “Jack Worwood is just 13 and was on the pavement on the way to meet his friends to play football, he had only left the house 15 mins prior to the hit and run.
“This has devastated all our family and extended family.”
A 15-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death while uninsured, causing death while unlicensed, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
Officers were called to reports of a hit-and-run between a car and a teen at around 4.30pm on Old Road, Tuesday.
Police said the teen had been walking along the pavement when the Jaguar smashed into him.
The car then crashed into a brick wall in another collision on nearby Mayfield Street.
The road in Ashton-in-Makerfield, which is between Manchester and Liverpool, was closed for around six hours as cops investigated.
Sergeant Darren Hancock of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is devastating news and our thoughts are wholeheartedly with Jack’s family as they struggle to come to terms with what has happened.
“We are determined to find them the answers they deserve and I want to again appeal to the public to come forward with any information or dash-cam footage that may assist us.”
Anyone with information should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, quoting incident number 1965 of 08/07/20.
