A recently discovered walkaround for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order allows players to avoid being captured, and the plot doesn't miss a beat.
Many villainous organizations are out to capture former-Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis throughout the course of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but it’s possible to avoid going to jail, and the plot even advances as normal. Respawn’s hit single-player Star Wars title tasks the young Order 66 survivor (modeled after and voiced by Gotham’s Cameron Monaghan) with locating the hidden secrets of the Jedi Order and reawakening his dormant Force powers.
This journey hits a brief snag during Cal’s second trip to the ancient world of Zeffo, where shortly after he’s finished exploring the Tomb of Miktrull he finds himself ambushed and captured by a group of bounty hunters (eventually resulting in the sounds of Mongolian metal band The Hu joining the game's soundtrack). Though this diversion seems like an unavoidable part of the plot, it’s just been discovered that there is a way to sidestep it altogether.
As detailed in a recent video by Youtube channel Cinematic Series Gaming, by taking an alternate pathway back to the Mantis and exploiting a pitfall glitch, Cal can actually sidestep two of the bounty hunters and avoid the third altogether during the second trip to Zeffo in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In addition, there are a number of shorter ways to achieve this by using cheat codes, but the result remains the same: Cal reaches the Mantis safe and sound and heads off to Kashyyyk to complete his next objective… and he gets to meet back up with volatile Rebel leader Saw Guerra much earlier due to not being preoccupied with Sorc Tormo and his goons.
Released shortly before the theatrical premiere of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker last winter, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has earned rave reviews from fans due to its strong singular-player narrative and overall lack of micro-transactions, making it an aberration of sorts among publisher EA’s divisive run of Star Wars titles. The game has seen continued support in the form of a free New Game Plus mode earlier this month, and there is even word that it is only the first installment of an entire series of titles from Respawn.
Secrets, glitches, and Easter Eggs are all too common in video games but rarely does such a thing allow players to skip an entire section of the story without breaking either the narrative or the programming. One can only wonder if Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s capture workaround was simply a bug that works surprisingly well or an intended feature by Respawn, but it’s still amusing to see how Cal could avoid a relatively minor roadblock in his quest to defeat the Empire, just as it could be fun for players to try this alternative path out for themselves in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
