American Dream Mall Will Open Entertainment Venues In October
American Dream, the three million-square-foot retail and entertainment center in East Rutherford, N.J., plans to open several of its indoor entertainment options on Oct. 25, 2019, according to its developer, Triple Five Group.
In addition to more than 450 stores and restaurants, the mall’s features include an eight-acre indoor Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, an eight-acre DreamWorks Water Park, an 18-hole Angry Birds miniature golf course, an NHL-sized ice hockey rink and a Big Snow Ski and Snowboard Park.
Announced retail tenants include Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Hermès, Tiffany & Co., Dolce & Gabbana, Moncler and Watches of Switzerland. However, no opening date has been announced for the retail side of the complex.

The megamall, which is currently on its third developer, has faced several financial problems since its first contract was awarded in 2003. Called “Xanadu” by the original developer, Mills Corp., which went out of business, the northern New Jersey project has sat partially built alongside the New Jersey Turnpike for more than 15 years.
Triple Five took over the shopping and entertainment center’s development in 2011 and renamed it “American Dream Meadowlands.” The development and finance corporation also owns the Mall of America in Minnesota and the West Edmonton Mall in Canada, the largest malls in North America.
