CRETE, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a woman was flown to a Lincoln hospital after being struck by a train locomotive in Crete.
The Crete Police Department says first responders were called to the scene around 4:25 a.m. Wednesday. They found BNSF employees comforting 40-year-old Jessica Maxson, who lives in Lincoln. Police say she was facing west, toward the eastbound train, when she was struck.
Police Chief Steve Hensel says it's unclear why Maxson was on the tracks and why she didn't move out of the way when the train approached.
