Little did Owen Nolan know 22 years ago that his playful gesture would still be a topic of conversation today.
The “called shot” in the 1997 All-Star Game — until this year the only one hosted by San Jose — was an impulsive decision made by the Sharks’ 24-year-old budding star, a hometown favorite who pointed at East goalie Dominik Hasek and then scored to cap a hat trick.
Asked if he planned to recreate the moment at this week’s All-Star Weekend at SAP Center, Nolan broke into a wide smile and said, “Hell no! One time was enough.”
Retired since 2010, Nolan is the father of two, owns two restaurants in San Jose and is a frequent visitor to Sharks games.
