The 49ers sure have some sought-after offensive assistants for a 4-12 team.
On Wednesday, 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello was named the Broncos offensive coordinator despite having just two seasons of NFL experience as a position coach.
However, Scangarello, 46, spent the past two seasons coaching QBs with head coach Kyle Shanahan, whose is the type of young, offensive-minded head coach currently en vogue in the league. The 49ers have denied permission for multiple teams to interview 49ers offensive assistants Mike McDaniel and Mike LaFleur for coordinator positions this offseason.
