British diplomat urged the West to prevent Russia and China from winning after the pandemic

Beijing and Moscow should not emerge victorious from the coronavirus pandemic, British Ambassador to Washington Karen Pearce said in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to Karen Pearce, China can become a trendsetter for future developments in the field of artificial intelligence, as it was with the proliferation of nuclear technology in the 1950s. “We don’t want to wake up one day and find that Chinese standards have been set in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics,” added Ms. Pearce.

The pandemic and the ensuing economic crisis have left millions of Americans jobless, she said. She said that the UK and the US need to join forces to face the strategic challenges from China and Russia at a time when the world will recover from the pandemic.
