The second round of parliamentary elections in 17 single-mandate constituencies ended in Georgia. Polling stations closed at 20:00 local time (19:00 Moscow time). Voter turnout at 16:00 Moscow time was 20.74% (443,963 votes), according to the CEC of Georgia.
The first round of parliamentary elections in Georgia took place on October 31. The Georgian Dream party received 48.22%. A party that receives more than 40% of the votes has the right to form its own government. 120 seats in parliament are distributed by party lists, and another 30 by majority constituencies. Representatives of the Georgian Dream won in 13 out of 30 single-mandate constituencies. The second round was held for the remaining 17.
The opposition parties that entered parliament accused the Georgian CEC of falsifying the election results and announced a boycott of the work in the legislature. The party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” reacted negatively to the opposition’s demands to cancel the results of the parliamentary elections and hold a new vote.
