Title Opportunity In South America: Paul Wall Reaches For His First International Belt
While AGON Sports super featherweight Moussa Gholam competes in a WBA world title eliminator at the Casino Buenos Aires on Saturday night, his stablemate Paul Wall fights for his first international title tonight. The Berlin-based super welterweight (10 wins) faces the biggest challenge of his career so far when he meets the experienced Colombian Placido Ramirez (28 wins, 6 losses). The WBA Continental Latin America Gold title is on the line. For the undefeated Berliner, it’s a chance to establish himself firmly in the international rankings for the first time.
Ramirez is a seasoned opponent who has already faced renowned names in international boxing, including the current IBF super welterweight world champion, Josh Kelly. The Colombian’s experience makes this title fight a true test for Wall.
To prepare optimally, the Berlin native traveled to Los Angeles for four weeks to the legendary Wild Card Boxing Gym. At the gym of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, Wall gained new insights and completed intensive sparring sessions with various partners. The super welterweight then put the finishing touches on his training at the AGON Gym in Berlin before the team departed for Argentina.
“The preparation went very well. I spent four weeks in LA at the Wild Card Gym, sparring with many people. We completed the final phase in Berlin. Since last weekend, we’ve been in Buenos Aires. My opponent is a very experienced man with many professional fights. He will be the biggest test for me, but I’m looking forward to exactly these kinds of challenges. I want to show that I’m ready and take the title,” Wall confidently explained.
Promoter Ingo Volckmann also sees great potential: “Paul Wall impressed us right from the start in sparring. If he delivers again in his title fight, he will be a strong contender for a top-15 ranking among the world boxing organizations.”
For Paul Wall, South America is about far more than just a belt – it’s an opportunity to establish himself internationally and take the next step in his career on a global stage.
