Liverpool lead Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table by six points having played a match less than their rivals.
They look an unstoppable force — West Ham can attest to that — and that’s reflected in the betting markets with Liverpool now odds-on at 1/4 to clinch the title for the first time since 2019-20.
Arne Slot’s side have won their last three Premier League matches, scoring 3+ goals in each victory with 14 goals in total. They are the league’s top goalscorers (45) and nobody has conceded fewer (17) with eight clean sheets to boot.
Pundits and presenters have done their best to identify the games where Liverpool could trip up – and Manchester United isn’t likely to be one of them.
Liverpool have lost just one of their last 13 Premier League games against Manchester United (W7 D5), while Sunday’s visitors haven’t won any of their last eight league away games at Anfield.
In fact, United have scored just one goal in their last eight Premier League away games against Liverpool, failing to score in each of the last five.
So it’s fair to say that hopes aren’t exactly high for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Only this week the Portuguese tactician was asked if his side were in a relegation battle, to which he answered: “I think that it is a possibility. We have to be clear with our fans.”
It’s extremely unlikely that the Red Devils will flirt with relegation for the first time in 50 years, but they must improve and quickly.
Since Amorim’s first game in charge on November 24, only Southampton (7) have lost more games in all competitions among Premier League clubs than United, while January signings appear unlikely given the club’s finances.

Following their 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture, Arne Slot looks very likely become just the second Liverpool manager to do the league double over Manchester United in his first season with the club.
And it should be in style with Liverpool scoring a handful. The league’s top goalscorers have netted 11 goals in their last four games against United and have by far the highest xG of any Premier League team over the last six games (18.39).
United, meanwhile, have lost six of their last eight, and all but two of those losses were by more than a one-goal margin.

Diogo Jota is back in the goals, and that’s bleak news for Manchester United. The Portuguese international, 28, netted the last of five against West Ham United and will fancy adding his his season tally (6) this weekend.
He’s got a very good record in this fixture having netted four times against the Red Devils. He’s also never lost against United in ten career appearances – winning seven and drawing three times.
