MANCHESTER UNITED will be aiming to end a torrid 2024 with a win over high-flying Newcastle this evening.
The Red Devils have picked up just three points from their last five Premier League games, with issues on the pitch continuing under Ruben Amorim.
Bruno Fernandes will be unavailable for Man Utd’s clash with Newcastle this evening[/caption]Since Man Utd‘s stunning comeback win over bitter rivals Manchester City, they have fallen to back-to-back top-flight defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves.
And this evening’s clash against Newcastle will be another tough test, with the Magpies on a superb run of form.
Amorim’s task to end the year on a high has been made even more difficult due to the unavailability of captain Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno Fernandes will play no part in Man Utd’s final match of 2024 against Newcastle tonight.
This is because the Portuguese playmaker received two yellow cards during the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat at Wolves on Boxing Day.
Fernandes picked up his first booking in the goalless first half for a cynical trip on Wolves dangerman Matheus Cunha.
And then, just 90 seconds after the break, the Man Utd captain flew into a late tackle on compatriot Nelson Semedo to earn a second yellow and his marching orders.
The 30-year-old will tonight serve a one-match ban – meaning he will return for Man Utd’s blockbuster trip to rivals Liverpool on Sunday, January 5.
