Nothing screams the Holidays quite like Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and that’s where UTSA and Coastal Carolina will square off on Dec. 23 in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
The AAC/Sun Belt showdown isn’t technically played in Myrtle Beach, and it will be a de facto home game for the Chanticleers as they’ll host the Roadrunners on the teal field at Brooks Stadium in Conway.
Both teams enter at 6-6 with Coastal regressing from last year’s 8-5 finish in coach Tim Beck’s first season, while UTSA fell even further after winning nine games in 2023 under Jeff Traylor.
The Roadrunners look to win their second bowl game in program history after winning the Frisco Bowl last season. A victory would also maintain Traylor’s streak of no losing seasons in his first four years in San Antonio.
The Chanticleers are also looking to win back-to-back bowl games, and this would be the third bowl win in program history. Coastal is 2-2 in its previous bowl appearances, which have all come in the last four seasons. Plus, who doesn’t like winning at home?
While it may not be the most high-profile showdown on the bowl calendar, both Group of Five programs regard themselves highly and are both looking to avoid their first losing seasons since 2019.
