Oh my god. OK, so I’m not sure how this didn’t get on my radar before today, but I had no idea that Cody Bellinger’s wife Chase used to date New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton. Oh by the way, did you see that the Chicago Cubs just traded Bellinger to the…NEW YORK YANKEES!
Cody and Chase got engaged during Bellinger’s first season with the Cubs in 2023. The couple later married in December of that year, a few months before Bellinger re-signed with the Cubs. Yet, before Cody, Chase dated Stanton for almost 1.5 years, from the summer of 2018 to Nov. 2019.
Now, being Yankees won’t be the only thing Bellinger and Stanton will have in common.

I mean, they’re adults and you have to think that this scenario is a lot more common among celebrities and professional athletes, but it doesn’t make it any less awkward.

I do have to say, some of the reaction here about the Yankees clubhouse being ruined because of this is completely idiotic. We’re not talking about anyone cheating or anything remotely close to that. Just so happens that teammates had at one point the same romantic partner.
That being said, you know the New York media will try to make this a bigger thing than it really is.
