This has the makings of being a Champions League classic.

The Gunners head for Sporting having got back to winning ways to beat high-flying Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last weekend.

That 3-0 victory came after three games without a win and with Kai Havertz and Declan Rice rested, too.

But this looks a much different proposition over in Portugal with Sporting flying.

The Portuguese side are flying in Liga Portugal, already six points clear and head into this clash in second in the Champions League table.

They won 6-0 at the weekend and previously had thumped Manchester City 4-1 in the last match day of this competition – though everyone is doing that these days.

They’ve also notched a staggering 19 goals in their last four games.

The loss of Ruben Amorim to Manchester United was a difficult one for the club but there appears no ill-effect as things stand and this looks a mightily difficult trip for Arsenal, who are down in 12th in the table.
