Thierry Henry gave a rousing speech at the awards[/caption]Henry was honoured at the awards show, where he gave a rousing and uplifting speech.
The former France international said: “On the pitch, I had a certain confidence that hid a lot of doubts.
“In a world like football, where it is taboo to say that you are not well, I often lied to myself.
“If I had been asked before what a good leader was, I would have talked about a guy who is never in pain and who is a leader.
“Today, I would say: ‘Be vulnerable and show a lot of empathy.’
“Without empathy, people don’t open up.
“When I was younger, I didn’t understand that being vulnerable is a strength.”
