The Washington State Cougars (7-1) take on the Utah State Aggies (2-6) on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET, in a battle featuring two of the best offensive players in college football in QB John Mateer and wide receiver Jalen Royals.
In their most recent outing, the Cougars took down the San Diego State Aztecs 29-26. Last time out, the Aggies won 27-25 over the Wyoming Cowboys. In that matchup with the Aztecs, Mateer had 257 yards on 19-of-27 passing (70.4%) for the Cougs, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also carried the ball 21 times for 42 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Wayshawn Parker rushed for 33 yards on nine carries (3.7 yards per carry). Kyle Willams had 74 yards on five catches (14.8 per reception) in that game. Spencer Petras’ performance for the Aggies against the Cowboys included 25-of-39 passing for 194 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. In that matchup, Rahsul Faison had a 23-carry, 131-yard game (5.7 yards per attempt) with one touchdown. He also added four receptions for 43 yards . Otto Tia caught six passes on nine targets for 76 yards (12.7 yards per reception), and scored one touchdown.
