Jay Cutler has always been an entertainer, intentionally or not. He put together a productive NFL career loaded with highlights of every sort. Chicago Bears fans have fond memories of him, especially after enduring years of Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields. He even showcased his talents in front of the camera on reality TV alongside ex-wife Kristen Cavallari. The guy had a great sense of humor and biting wit. It is unfortunate he didn’t pursue a career in television. He had a knack for it.
Instead, Cutler seems to have contented himself with various hobbies like hunting and farming. Such a laid-back existence leads to boredom, which can lead to poor decisions. A TMZ report revealed Cutler was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, for DUI. New details have since emerged. The former QB rear-ended another vehicle, offered a bribe to the other driver not to call the police, had three guns in his vehicle at the time of arrest, and refused a sobriety test.
Cutler, 41, allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and was slurring his words with blood shot eyes, according to police. He initially told police he did not consume any alcohol and then said he had “a little bit” when questioned further, documents obtained by WGN News state.
He refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a hospital where a blood sample was taken through a warrant.
Cutler had two firearms, a rifle and a loaded Glock pistol, located in his vehicle.
Cutler allegedly attempted to flee the scene after offering the other driver $2,000 to not call the police, documents state.
The other driver refused EMS, but drove himself to the hospital due to back pain.
Everything about that scenario sums him up perfectly. He wasn’t responsible enough to avoid driving while intoxicated. He was too cheap in his offer to the other driver. Seriously, $2,000? Remember, Jay Cutler made well over $100 million in his career. That is an insult. Lastly, his trademark surly personality ended with him refusing a sobriety test, only making the arrest look worse. It doesn’t get more on-brand than that. Cutler was released on $5,000 bail. No dashcam footage has been released yet. One can imagine it will be must-see TV when that happens.
