Dustin Poirier advises Dan Hooker to be careful what he wishes for.
Poirier, who recently lost to Islam Makhachev in a lightweight championship main event at UFC 302, has been teasing one more walk to the octagon before potentially calling it a career. After Poirier planted the seeds for a trilogy fight with Justin Gaethje, Hooker—another past opponent of Poirier—threw out his own challenge for a “rematch.”
This led to quite the response from “The Diamond,” who defeated Hooker in an underrated classic at UFC on ESPN 12 in June 2020.

“You really don’t want that [Dan Hooker],” Poirier said in response.
Hooker didn’t take that lying down and fired back at Poirier with a classic “Hangman” retort.

“Who you trying to fool,” Hooker responded.
Hooker finds himself in a position to get a big name like Poirier as he now sits in the top 5 in the UFC’s lightweight division, and at No. 9 in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings, just two spots behind Poirier. Hooker took a huge leap up the charts following his upset win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305 in August.
