Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal travel to Bergamo to face Europa League winners Atalanta.

It’s the first of Arsenal’s eight games in this new-look Champions League format, and they’ll be hopeful of a strong start given their success over the weekend.

The Gunners beat arch-rivals Tottenham 1-0 on their patch courtesy of Gabriel’s second-half effort, which leaves them second in the Premier League.

It was the first test of a massive week for the London heavyweights, who now take on Atalanta before a crunch tie with champions Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal were dumped out at the quarter-final stage by Bayern Munich last season, but should fancy their chances of going deeper into the tournament this time.

Arteta will have Declan Rice back following his suspension in the north London derby, however there are doubts over the availability of Bukayo Saka, who was forced off in the closing stages of Sunday’s win.

Atalanta sit ninth in the Serie A table after winning two and losing two of their opening four matches.

They were trounced 4-0 away to Inter Milan before the international break, but bounced back with an exciting 3-2 win over Fiorentina over the weekend and relish European nights on their turf.
