ROY KEANE has revealed the “embarrassing” reason why he will not play in the Manchester United Legends match against Celtic.
The club legend retired from playing in 2006 after one season with Celtic.
Roy Keane has claimed his fitness levels are ’embarrassing’[/caption] The retired midfielder does not play in testimonial games[/caption]The Irishman, 53, appears to be in good shape, having not put on much weight since his playing days.
However, Keane has admitted that he is nowhere close to being fit enough to feature in testimonial matches.
The former midfielder has even suggested that his “embarrassing” fitness levels would stop him from being able to run.
He told Off The Ball: “I’m not fit. I’m far from fit. My fitness levels are actually very, very embarrassing.
“Just because I’ve not put on loads of weight doesn’t mean to say I’m fit. I wouldn’t really be able to do any running.
“Put it this way, I’ve been invited a number of times over the last few years to play legends games or whatever you want to call it.
“I’d find it really difficult because I wouldn’t be able to get around.
“Too many injury problems.

“I try to have a decent diet and I’m obviously weary about putting on too much weight.
“But I certainly wouldn’t be fit enough to go on any sort of run. I do a small bit of cycling but even that – I’m not exactly Sean Kelly.”
What really ticks off Roy Keane?
The Irishman is known for his no-nonsense approach to football.
And some particular things really do get on Keane’s wick.
It all makes for great entertainment for fans, who love the Man United legend’s take on the beautiful game.
But is Keane being a bit too sensitive himself?
From smiling players to ABBA, nothing is sacred.
And we all know about his dislike for a prawn sarnie…
There are still plenty of former Manchester United stars taking part in the match.
The likes of Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia.
Keane did join in a casual match during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as TV presenters and pundits had a kickabout to unwind.
He showed he still had some ability left in his feet as his goal handed ITV victory over the BBC.
During the tournament, Keane also had the chance to show off his first touch.
In a social video, pundits were surprised with a ball and if they could still control it, despite being retired.
Keane’s first attempt was not great, but he managed to pull it back for with his second attempt.
