Tarleton State football earned its first victory in DI competition on Saturday with the help of a beloved 1990s sports comedy.
As the team stood firm against a 19-point comeback against McNeese State, veteran sports journalist Rodger Sherman (former of The Ringer) shared a delightful screenshot of the Cowboys’ field goal attempt to tie up the game with six seconds left.
To help out Tarleton State, an absolute genius put up a shot from the film Happy Gilmore of Chubbs Peterson, Abraham Lincoln and the alligator that bit off Chubbs’ hand in Heaven on a big screen behind the uprights where McNeese State’s kicker was going for the field goal.

Genuinely, you cannot script this. We’re sure Chubbs, Honest Abe and that gator are actually looking down from Heaven, very proud that Tarleton State’s video team tagged them in to help get the historic win.
