Baseball players take their fantasy football serious. Maybe a little too serious judging by Tommy Pham’s dispute with Joc Pederson a couple years ago that led him to call Mike Trout the worst commissioner in fantasy sports.
But sometimes they do have fun with it, especially around the draft. Last year, we saw Orioles manager Brandon Hyde take BP for the first time in 17 years to decide their draft order. This year, the Oakland Athletics raised the stakes with a ball toss from the centerfield stands of the Oakland Coliseum, otherwise known as Mount Davis. You know, the section covered by those green tarps.
The goal was to get the ball as close as possible to a ring sitting in the shallow outfield. This was brilliant.

Judging by the reaction of Scott Alexander, I think we know who landed the No. 1 pick and opportunity to draft Christian McCaffrey.
