Emiliano Moreno may only be 19 years of age, but he does not represent that in the ring. Not only is he unbeaten, but is beginning to make a name for himself in the welterweight division.
Moreno will square off against Rashield Williams Wednesday night at the Whitesands (also known as the ProBox TV) Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The 10-round bout will precede the main event bout between fringe contender Alberto Palmetta and Jesus Saracho.
Both fights will stream live on the ProBox TV YouTube page or application (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).
Moreno (9-0, 5 knockouts), who resides in Long Beach, California, has faced and defeated modest opposition by utilizing an aggressive, fan-friendly style to overwhelm his opponents. He has also had the benefit, thus far, of overpowering his opponents with his 5’11” frame, raining down punches from different angles.
ProBox TV’s Chris Glover believes Moreno has a bright future ahead, especially with an improving skill-set, and anticipates a great fight tomorrow against Williams.
“He is excellent,” Glover told The Ring Monday evening. “The kid was in a proper (candidate for) ‘Fight of the Year’ (in his last fight). That’s going to be a banger of a fight against Rashield Williams.”
In his last bout on February 16, Moreno defeated Axl Melendez Salgado by unanimous decision in one of the best action fights of this year. In his previous fight on November 15, Moreno stopped Daniel Lim late in the second round.
Both Melendez and Lim were unbeaten prior to facing Moreno.
Melendez is managed by Ray Frye, who also manages Saracho and once-beaten junior lightweight Jonathan Javier Fierro.
Williams (11-2, 9 KOs), who is originally from Nassau in the Bahamas and now resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, stopped Andres Viera in the second round of his last bout on March 2. In his previous fight on November 18, Williams stopped Nestor Armas Hernandez, also in the second round.
The 34-year-old has won his last five bouts, four by knockout, since losing by split decision to current unbeaten prospect Elijah Flores in October 2022. Williams’ other defeat as a pro was also by split decision, losing to unbeaten Javaune James in March 2019.
