On Sunday we get two notable shows in Japan, and today, ahead of those bouts, we saw the fighters weigh in for the contests.
One of the shows will take place in Shizuoka and be headlined by a WBC Youth title fight, as
Ayumu Sano (8-0-1, 4) [佐野遥渉] takes on Filipino fighter
Yeroge Gura (8-0-1, 3) in a bout for the vacant WBC Youth Light Flyweight title. On the scales both men made weight with no issues at all, with both hitting the scales at 114.8lbs. At the weigh-in both men seemed confident, with Sano telling the press "Seeing the green WBC belt today made me feel even more determined to win it. I will show superior boxing to my opponent in speed, technique, and everything else, and take the belt.".
Interestingly the card from Shizuoka will be shown on
https://era.travel.gr.jp/ The other show of note is from Osaka.
One of the bouts here will see former world champion
Ryuya Yamanaka (19-4, 6) [山中竜也] take on Thai visitor
Puriwat Taosuwan (5-4, 3). On the scales Yamanaka card in just under the Flyweight limit, and made it clear that he is targeting a rematch with Filipino Jayson Vayson, who beat him in December, stating "I'll stay focused as usual, win definitively, and use that to get my revenge against Jason Vayson!" As for the Thai he was way under the Flyweight limit, coming in at 110lbs.
The main event for the Osaka show will be a WBO Asia Pacific Minimumweight title bout, as
Goki Kobayashi (7-1, 5) [小林豪己] defends his title against
Joseph Sumabong (6-0, 3). On the scales Kobayashi was comfortable under the limit, at 104.7lbs whilst Sumabong Sumabong had a lot of room to play with, coming in at just 103.4lbs, closer to the female only Atomweight limit than the Minimumweight limit. Kobayashi, who looked the bigger man at the weigh-in, explained that Sumabong was smaller than expected, and declared that he was going to win by KO, scoring a spectacular finish
For fans wanting to watch the show from Osaka, it will be be streamed live on U-Next.
