Pep Guardiola was born on January 18, 1971, in Santpedor, Spain.
He spent the majority of his early football career playing as a defensive midfielder with Barcelona.

His career saw the young Guardiola win a number of Spanish league titles and went on to play for both Roma and Brescia in Italy.
He also played for Qatar, Al-Ahli and Dorados de Sinoloa in Mexico before retiring from being a player and moving into management.
After switching from playing to coaching, Guardiola has been at the top of his game.
He is considered to be one of the greatest managers of all time holding the records for the most consecutive league games won in La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League.
He became the manager for Barcelona in 2008 which saw him help the team to dominate both domestically and internationally in his four years in charge.
Whilst coaching the team, Guardiola became the youngest manager to win two Champions League titles in his debut season both against Manchester United in 2011.
The team was also awarded the Catalan Parliament’s Gold Medal – their highest honour
That same year, Guardiola was named the FIFA World Coach of the Year.
He then took his management skills to Bayer Munich in 2013 before making his move to Manchester City in 2016.
And he is chasing a unprecedented FOUR Premier League titles in a row with City this season.
According to L’Equipe, Man City pay Pep around £19.7 million a year.
A notable jump from Man City’s previous manager, Manuel Pellegrini, who received a salary of around £4 million.
The vast increase in salary can be attested to Pep being the only manager who has helped Man City be crowned champions every year since 2016 except for their 2020 title race against Liverpool.
In 2022, Pep signed a new contract with Man City which takes him to summer 2025.
He revealed at the time how he wanted to ensure his family were happy and comfortable with him remaining in English football for two more seasons.
But once they had given their blessing, he said it was an “easy decision” to stay at the club.
“There is a family part [to the decision]. This one [contract renewal] I involved my family more than ever because it has already been seven years and will be nine years [at the end of the new contract],” he said in a statement.
“It’s important to have the feeling they support me in those decisions.
In terms of sporting ways, it was one second, the decision.
“I cannot be in a better place because in these seven years we were in bad, bad moments and the organisation, starting with Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the CEO Ferran Soriano, of course Txiki [Begiristain] and Omar [Berrada], the people close to me – how they support me in these bad moments, that is what really counts.

“From day one I felt something special being here. I know the conversations I have with our chairman Khaldoon and the people every day.
“All you do is your best. I have done that since day one and I will do it until the end.”
