Each year, more undrafted free agents wind up on NFL rosters than first-round NFL Draft picks.
Granted, that’s a numbers game. There are more than a thousand players who go unselected each spring and wind up with training camp invites anyway, while there are only 32 players taken in the first round. But it does help illustrate how important these players are to the league’s ecosystem. Most won’t make it to the regular season. Many will shuttle back and forth from practice squads in brief careers.
But a select few will have an outsized impact on the NFL. Hall of Famers like John Randle and Drew Pearson suffered the indignity of being passed over by needy teams, then emerged as stars anyway. While it’s unlikely there will be a Hall of Famer in this year’s crop of undrafted players, there will almost certainly be some starters, Pro Bowlers and probably a couple All-Pros just looking for the right place to thrive.
Let’s break this spring’s signings down team by team in alphabetical order.
