Robert Griffin III posted a video on his X (Twitter) account earlier today imploring Caleb Williams to pull an Eli Manning on the Chicago Bears ahead of the 2024 draft. You can see the video here.
Griffin, of course, is a former QB for the Washington Redskins. Part of his rant raises issues with how the Bears organization treated Justin Fields. Speaking about the Fields situation Griffin had this to say:
“Can caleb williams really look at that and say can this organization have my best interests at heart and help me, and they’re going to develop me into the player that i want to become?”

To provide context, Eli Manning was the most sought-after rookie QB entering the 2004 draft. The San Diego Chargers owned the top pick in the draft. Eli Manning and his father Archie Manning warned the Chargers that Eli would not play for the Chargers. They warned the Chargers GM, Eli would sit out his rookie year if the team chose him.
The Chargers drafted Manning with the first pick of the 2004 draft. Ultimately the Chargers struck a deal with the New York Giants. The Giants drafted Phillip Rivers and traded him to San Diego for Manning. The Chargers also received a 2024 third-round pick (used to select kicker Nate Kaeding) and a first-round pick in 2005, San Diego used to select LB Shawne Merriman.
Robert Griffin III Thinks Pittsburgh “Stole” Fields
RGIII doubled down on his rant detailed in an article posted by Chris Ward at steelersnow.com.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers just robbed the Chicago Bears on the weekend in broad daylight. Getting Justin Fields in 2024, giving up ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in 2024 and only giving up a 2025 6th round pick that MIGHT turn into a 4th rounder. This is what we call BIG BANK take little bank,”

Responses to RGIII’s post have mostly been negative as one can imagine, calling his rant a terrible take:
Caleb Williams, or whomever the Bears choose to be their future QB will step into perhaps the best situation any rookie quarterback selected number one overall in recent memory. Chicago now must accept what has been granted. The Bears have a shot at a true franchise QB on a roster that is now playoff-ready.
It’s time to move on.
