Kim Mulkey is accustomed to making headlines (for all the wrong reasons), and Selection Sunday was no different.
As seeding was revealed for the women’s NCAA tournament, the defending champion LSU Tigers eagerly awaited what they hoped would be a favorable slate en route to back-to-back titles. Except when we saw the camera fixed on LSU showing the team’s reaction to earning a No. 3 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, Mulkey was one of the few people who had a very muted reaction to the outcome.
It seemed pretty clear the coach was a little annoyed that her team wasn’t slotted higher:

Mulkey would later explain her feelings on seeding and where LSU was placed, noting that her initial thoughts were centered around a “tough region.”
Kim Mulkey on the seeding/region:
“It’s a tough region. Saw a lot of teams that have played each other already.”
