Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams put out a clear statement that he was not trying to hurt Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud in New York’s 30-6 victory against Houston on Sunday afternoon.
With 6:30 play in the Sunday’s contest, Stroud exited the game with a concussion after completing a six-yard pass to John Metchie, falling on his back and bouncing his head off the turf inside MetLife Stadium. Stroud remained on the ground as team trainers to checked on him on the field.
After Stroud retreated to the sideline for further examination, the rookie signal-caller walked to the Texans’ locker room and was later ruled out and placed in concussion protocol.
Later Sunday evening, Williams tweeted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he was praying for Stroud’s health after the hit and that he had no intention of hurting the Texans' franchise quarterback.
“I pray CJ [Stroud] is ok, everyone know I’m not a dirty player or trying to hurt a great, Elite QB like him or any player in the league. I play hard and I play fair. Again I pray CJ is ok and wish him nothing but the best,” Williams wrote.

The Jets’ defense limited Stroud to 91 passing yards on 10-of-23 completed passes along with four sacks in the victory. When Stroud went down, backup Davis Mills replaced him under center.
New York (5-8) earned its fifth win of the season while snapping a five-game losing streak dating back to the Jets’ Oct. 29 overtime victory against the Giants.
