After Chris Jones took over the AFC title game — in perhaps the best performance of his career so far — we already knew the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar was busy reveling in putting the Cincinnati Bengals in their place.
What we didn’t know is just how furious and worked-up the Defensive Player of the Year candidate was while this instant classic unfolded. Fortunately, NFL Films pieced together a first-hand video of what it was like to be in Jones’ shoes as he defended the “honor” of Arrowhead Stadium in a 23-30 Chiefs’ win.
In much the way you’d expect a cornerstone to react, this mic’d up video showcases the mentality great players like Jones put themselves in to thrive when their team needs them:

I was already confident Jones was irritated by the Bengals’ trash talk. I mean, he wasn’t hiding his intentions! But hearing Jones roar, “We done heard everything they could say all week, but you gotta put the ball down, man,” admittedly sent a chill down my spine.
Jones wasn’t messing around with a Super Bowl 57 berth on the line for the Chiefs. They must be thanking their lucky stars that he’s on their side.
