XFC announces November relaunch, agreement with NBC Sports

For the first time in over four years, Xtreme Fighting Championships is set to put on an event with a new television partner in place.

In a press release, XFC announced an agreement with NBC Sports to air events in the U.S. beginning with the promotion’s relaunch set for Nov. 11 in Atlanta, Ga. at 9 p.m. EST.

XFC returns under new ownership led by CEO Steve Smith, a former employee of WWE, longtime promotional president Myron Molotky, along with other former executives from WWE and the XFL.

The fight nights, which will take place in the hexagon, will feature bouts from three competition brackets; Young Guns (up-and-coming fighters), Tournament Series (bracket-format fights leading to a weight class champion) and Super Fights (highest-profile and most-established fighters), according to promotion officials.

“NBC Sports is the gold standard in sports television, with an unmatched history presenting the most prestigious competitions in the world,” says Molotky. “The team at NBC Sports impressed us with their experience, their understanding of our vision, and their commitment to excellence. We are thrilled to join them as partners and to give our fighters an opportunity to shine in front of this powerful audience.”

After running several shows in the U.S., XFC went exclusively to Brazil for their international series between February 2014 to December 2015, before the promotion was forced to close its doors in 2016 after the economic fallout of the World Cup and Olympics. XFC International 13 was the last event to take place until the upcoming relaunch.

Several fighters who went on the UFC competed for XFC in the past, including Michel Pereira, Vanessa Melo, Wellington Turman, Poliana Botelho, Tyson Nam, and others.
