White Sox fans were holding their breath for a while, as Lucas Giolito completed the 19th no-hitter in franchise history Tuesday night against the Pirates. Little did the fans know they’d have to keep holding their breath after seeing slugger Eloy Jiménez getting checked out by the team trainer after celebrating the no-hitter.
Minutes after Giolito’s teammates rushed him behind the mound to celebrate the historic moment NBC Sports Chicago cut to Jiménez sitting in front of the mound and talking with a trainer.
Definitely not what you want to see after witnessing your guy throw a no-no.
He eventually got back up and was able to walk off the field under his own power. In the postgame press conference White Sox manager Rick Renteria said Jiménez twisted his ankle.
They’ll see how the left-fielder feels on Wednesday.
Unbelievable, but hopefully it’s not serious for Eloy who has already gone through a handful of freak injuries in his young White Sox career.
