The Cubs have two doubleheaders in the next three days against the Cardinals, so we’re going to be seeing some pitchers coming up from the team’s alternate training site in South Bend.
The first is right-handed pitcher Tyson Miller, who will start the second game of Monday’s doubleheader.
And we might see Adbert Alzolay on Wednesday for that doubleheader. Alzolay appeared to be the first option for today, but he recently took a ball off his forearm and has a bruise.
Miller, 25, was taken in the fourth round in the 2016 draft by the Cubs out of California Baptist. He has a 4.05 ERA in 413 innings in the minors, making 85 total appearances and 74 starts. Miller was outstanding to begin the 2019 season, posting a 2.56 ERA in 15 starts at Double-A, but struggled in his final 11 starts of the year with the Iowa Cubs at Triple-A. He had a 7.58 ERA in 48.2 innings in the ridiculous offensive league.
