Earlier today the Japan Boxing Commission announced that there had been a new positive test of a fighter.
The details, as with all the other cases involving boxers in Japan, have been kept rather limited. What has been revealed is that the fighter in question is said to be a male teenage fighter from a gym in Nagoya.
The youngster is showing symptoms of a fever, and reportedly a headache, and is waiting at home. The gym they train at is now closed, and they are awaiting instructions from the public health center as to what they need to do next.
Boxing in Japan has seen gyms affected in Aichi, Osaka, Okinawa and now Nagoya. Although the spread has been relatively limited within Japanese boxing, the recent cases in Osaka, Okinawa and Nagoya are a worry. We suspect we'll be hearing about a lot more a cases among boxers in the country over the coming weeks as cases in the country have been growing rapidly since the start of July. There is a big worry that we could see new restrictions brought into the country in the future.
