Dhiego Lima won’t be facing Alex Morono at UFC 247 on Feb. 8 after the Brazilian welterweight suffered an injury, MMA Fighting has learned following a report from Combate.
Lima on Wednesday told MMA Fighting he’ll have to avoid training for four or five weeks due to a neck injury, but he doesn’t need surgery.
Morono (17-5, 1 no-contest) now awaits a new opponent for UFC 247. The 28-year-old welterweight is coming off victories over Kenan Song, Zak Ottow and Max Griffin.
Lima (15-7) also is on a three-fight winning streak inside the Octagon, with a first-round knockout over Chad Laprise followed by decisions against Court McGee and Luke Jumeau.
UFC 247 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and features Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes for the light heavyweight championship in the main event. Valentina Shevchenko puts her flyweight title on the line in a co-main event bout versus Katlyn Chookagian.
