Former UFC title challenger Dan Hardy will be an analyst for the UK’s broadcast of Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor.
One-time UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy has become one of the top analysts in the sport, frequently working alongside John Gooden on select live events, as well as breaking down the biggest matchups on “Inside the Octagon.” The Englishman is now set to join the Sky Sports Box Office commentary team in Las Vegas, Nevada for the August 26th boxing super showdown between Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

"August 26 will be a historic night for boxing and mixed martial arts, and probably the biggest combat sports event of our lifetime. Sky Sports Box Office is renowned for putting on huge fight nights, and I am honoured to be joining the team out in Las Vegas.
"Just to be in the 'Fight Capital' on that night will be a special experience, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to add a little of my MMA knowledge to the broadcast."
While Sky Sports is using Hardy for the MMA angle on Mayweather vs. McGregor, Showtime in the United States has had former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub as part of its broadcast team. Response to Schaub’s style of analysis has been mixed, to put it kindly. In a conference call on Tuesday, Hardy did address what he felt wasn’t particularly insightful stuff from Schaub.
“As much as I like Brendan Schaub, I’ll admit that I thought a lot of the stuff he was saying was hot air. There were a lot of superlatives and celebration. There was not a great deal of substance to his analysis.
“He didn’t tell me where Conor should put his feet, where he should hold his hands, what we should be looking out for, what Floyd is going to be looking to do against a southpaw that fights outside of his normal range… there wasn’t really any analysis. It was more yelling over each other.
“What I’m hoping to bring to the table is some knowledge and some intellect.”
