‘Well, that wasn’t well thought out’: ‘Scholar’ flees Trump’s U.S., now wants you to fund her life in Canada
A “scholar of the far-right,” actually a radical leftist, who fled President Donald Trump’s America because, well, because, now has posted a video online insisting that others fund her lifestyle and living expenses because the utopia in Canada that she adopted turns out to be not so friendly.
Or affordable.
It is a leftist going by “Nope Brigade” online who is unwilling even to tolerate Trump and posted the video, which is generating a lot of negative reaction.

She makes a lengthy, impassioned plea, and insists, “Because there are two adults, a cat, and a dog, we are looking for more than just a room—ideally a one- or two-bedroom for free or below market rates.”
She specifies that it needs to be on the western side of Vancouver, which probably is Canada’s most expensive city in which to live.
Right now, “savings” are being used for Canada’s housing costs.
The Gateway Pundit said the “far-left activist,” “Nope Brigade” on social media, was finding out “liberal utopias” still require you to pay your bills.
“Back on December 3, 2024, she uploaded a lengthy video warning that President Donald Trump’s immigration rhetoric was laying the ‘building blocks to genocide’ in the United States, comparing potential deportation policies to the Holocaust and Armenian genocide. ‘I can’t stop thinking about what might happen to immigrants once Trump ascends to power, so I would like to give you some insights that I have learned from my genocide class about what that might look like in the United States,'” she said, according to the report.
Her messaging now: “I’m a scholar of the far right who has fled the United States to Canada, and I need help. The situation in Canada is absolutely dire for Americans who don’t know. The housing crisis here is worse than in the United States. I lived in LA for six years, and I have not faced rent as bad as it is here. When my partner, our cat, and our dog fled the United States, we headed north with the goal of being close to where our families are located, which is on the West Coast. So we are now in British Columbia. More specifically, we are along the Sea-to-Sky Highway in the Greater Vancouver area. We are attempting to find housing on the western side of this region. My partner and I are here on a visitor visa, which allows a possible six-month stay for Americans. However, while you’re here on a visitor visa, you can’t work.”
Living off savings isn’t working, she said, while Canada’s “cost-of-living crisis” actually is worse than in the U.S., she said.
She noted as a visitor she’s not allowed to work, can’t access free health care, and is barred from much more that is available to citizens.
The Conservative Brief, online, found the call for financial help hilarious.

She originally claimed she was a “refugee” in Canada but had to correct herself: “To clarify, I am a visitor here until I can figure something more permanent out. Americans can’t claim asylum officially in Canada because the US is considered a safe country. The bureaucracy has not caught up to the reality of what’s happening.”
Her new plea includes: “As horrified as I am to be revealing my location, I really am trying to find a way to get us housing. So if you are on Vancouver Island, or in the Vancouver or Surrey area, with a one- or two-bedroom, let us know. We can pay rent, but it would probably have to be below market rate.”
She warned, “If we can’t find housing, we’re going to have to leave, and I don’t know where we’ll go.”
