Oh, you thought you’d had your fill of soda and special underwear? No way. Mormonism is a well of content that will spring eternal and so The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is getting renewed. Duh. The renewal was reported by TMZ, then, on October 3, Hulu officially confirmed it.
TMZ gets the scoop
October 2, 2024: By the end of season one of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, MomTok is falling apart. Jennifer Affleck announces she is leaving the group because her husband is starting medical school in New York, an expelled Whitney Leavitt puts a used pregnancy test in a cake she expects people to eat, and MomTok creator Taylor Frankie Paul gives birth to her child with Dakota after being welcomed back into the group. It’s a lot for a season to end on, but thankfully, Hulu apparently heard our prayers to make these women the biggest stars the world has ever known: The show has reportedly been renewed for season two. TMZ also reports that all seven wives will be returning.
Hulu made the right move. The show’s premiere became the streamer’s most-watched unscripted episode of 2024, exceeding the premiere of the most recent season of The Kardashians. Since the show aired, even more drama has continued with supplementary videos popping up daily on the ladies’ home turf: TikTok. Leavitt has embraced her role as the series villain after stirring up some post-show fights with the other moms — Mikayla Matthews has referenced their drama with Leavitt in several videos. Mayci Neeley, Jessi Ngatikaura, and Layla Taylor have also chimed in, hinting that there is still more to be told. That’s why their Stanley cups are so big: They’re full of secrets.
Hulu confirms
October 3, 2024: One day later, Hulu not only confirmed the renewal, but the streamer also dropped that it was renewed for 20 additional episodes. In this fickle streaming era, that’s like six seasons worth of content. Rob Mills, the VP of reality content at Disney, even answered our question from before: “There was a philosophical question raised in season one, which was ‘Can #MomTok survive this?’ The answer unequivocally is yes!,” he said in a statement. The new episodes will come out in spring 2025. In the meantime, RHOSLC is currently airing, so you don’t have to go without Mormon-adjacent drama at any time. Thank God!
